The team at Hatherleigh Nursing Home have been putting their grilling skills to the test with aprons on and spatulas raised high! A new barbeque has been added to the home’s newly renovated garden to encourage more outdoor socialising.
The residents, who are fondly referred to as family members, enjoyed each other’s company in the garden, revelling in the newfound sunshine. Food was aplenty in their garden banquet, with sizzling burgers, sausages, fresh salad, and refreshments on hand. This was followed by delicious ice cream, igniting fond memories of being on the beach with loved ones.
Spending time outside in the fresh air can have a transformative effect on reducing anxiety and encouraging exercise and interaction. It is important for family members to build meaningful relationships as a source of comfort and support but also to provide a sense of normality and true continuation of life.
