The team at Hatherleigh Nursing Home have created a new cinema room for residents, fondly referred to as family members, to enjoy. It has been decorated in a ‘picture house’ style that is reminiscent of early cinemas that family members may have attended in their youth. There is a large screen set up on the wall and comfortable seating where films can be enjoyed with a box of popcorn and a soft drink.

The cinema room also doubles up as a ‘mood room’ with different light settings, glittery walls, glow in the dark stars on the ceiling and a glowing faux fireplace. It has been designed to create a warm, secluded, and comforting environment for someone to relax and spend some time watching the fire or having a snooze under the stars.

Hatherleigh Nursing Home is based in the small market town of Hatherleigh near Okehampton, Devon. It’s approach to life recognises the values, beliefs and identity of each person. Each person that may need support is unique and by understanding one’s life history, one’s journey in life, by striving to be a true continuation of home, the team at Hatherleigh Nursing Home create a place where everyone feels safe and never alone.
